Arguably the most famous Douglas DC-3 airliner in America has flown and dropped the most famous professional and championship skydivers in the world for decades and from coast to coast. Anyone who has ever flown in this iconic DC-3 aircraft has never forgot it. Aviators and skydiving moguls have coined it as simply "Mister Douglas" and every parachutist knew what you were talking about. This aircraft begat the colloquial saying of the "Skydive Boogie" and the legends of many skydiving businesses began. Today the unpainted aluminum silver bullet fuselage is sitting on the ramp of the DeLand Florida Municipal Airport and is, sadly, not-airworthy yet but flies fine. Today, the historical aircraft restoration project is owned by Sav-A-DC3 The Mr. Douglas Society, Inc. and has already begun with tax-deductible donations supporting the all volunteer aviators and maintenance crews working tirelessly, continuously. Two zero time radial engines have been refitted, all the control surfaces replaced new, and fresh tires all the way around, among many many other restorations and replacements. The goal is to become a flying, living, museum for America's future aviators and parachutist enthusiasts.
